LNZ Championships

This page will have general information, draw,  photos, etc.

Zone Championships & Competitions will now be held on the last Sunday in April & the first Sunday in May each year unless exception circumstance deem otherwise.

Team on the Flat - 1
Classes
Open - any age
Interclub composite teams allowed if your club cannot form a team
Team will have presentation marks (no turnout)
 However if you win and go to State Championships you will still need to have a do turn out there.

LNZ Walk Trot TOF test  -  Team on the Flat Inexperienced 12yr & under 
(may be assisted from outside arena  not led)

(Prelim, Novice, Elementary & Medium Tests all effective 1/1/2023)

Competition Classes
LNZ Walk/Trot test for inexperienced under 12yrs (led or assisted)
PCASA Walk/Trot - Prelim 1.2   -  Novice  2.2 -  Elementary 3.2 - Medium 4.2

Championship Classes
Prelim 1.3  -   Novice 2.3 -   Elementary 3.3  -  Medium 4.3
Combinations may enter 2 consecutive levels & max 3 tests
(anyone wishing to be considered for State Selection must do a minimum  of 2 tests & should ride the  Championship test for the level they wish to be considered for) 

PCASA Walk/Trot - Preliminary & Novice will be split into 2 age classes (under 17yr   -  17yrs & over)
Elementary & Medium will be run as one age group.

Inclusive Classes will be available to riders with special needs.

Horse & Rider of the Year Classes
Competition
45cm Horse & Rider for riders 12yrs & under 
Dressage test Prelim 1.3 , 45cm jumping, modified working equitation.(course TBA)
65cm Horse & Rider - 2 age groups 
under 17yr   -  17yrs & over
 dressage test Prelim 1.3, 65cm jumping,  working equitation course 1
Championship
PCASA  Preliminary  HOY  Dressage Prelim 1.3  85cm - Working Equitation Course 1
PCASA Novice  HOY Dressage Novice 2.3  - 1m - Working Equitation Course 1

Working Equitation
Course will be modified for under 12yr classes only
Competition

Classes - 12yrs & under led or assisted (Walk/Trot only)
 Open - 12yrs & under, under 17yrs, 17yrs & over 

Show Jumping 
Competition
 F grade - E grade - D grade
all modified run under opt time - Article 245.3
45cm &  60cm clear round win a ribbon

Championships 
C Grade  -  B Grade  - A Grade - all run under PCASA rules for State Championships

All riders may compete at graded height and/or one grade higher - combinations may not jump more than 3 classes, Horse & Rider jumping is considered a class so those riders may only do 2 classes of Show Jumping.
All Horse & Rider of the year jumping will be held on the same day - the HOY under 12yrs & Encourage classes will use either the appropriate win a ribbon class depending on numbers or 1st round of E or D grade.

​Novelties (Individual)
Timed Novelties to be run through the day, one entry fee will be for all Novelties run
it will be the riders responsibility to ensure they get to the game during the time it is open.
Games can include - Ball & Cone, Bending, Stepping Stone, 3 Mug Race, Egg & Spoon Race.
(number may be reduced depending of entries & timetable)
​Mounted Games  (Team)
12 yrs & Under Inexperienced Riders - (may be led or assisted) - Walk/Trot (participation class)
5 Mug Race
Bottle Race (600ml bottles for this age group)
Old Sock Race (Socks handed to rider)
Team Bending Race
5 Flag Race

Open Teams  (Championship)
Riders of any age
Games from the following groups

Group 4
5 Mug Race, Bottle Race, Stick Pegging Relay Race,
Old Sock Race, Hi-Lo Race, Litter Scoop Race
Group 5

Team Bending Race, Daily Mail Race, 5 Flag Race, Sack Race, Hurdle Race, 9 Ring Race

Interclub composite teams allowed if your club cannot form a team
